In August, 2024, Owens along with a small group of artists founded the PA Chapter of the National Association of Women Artists Inc which was established in 1889 in New York. "Our goal is promote awareness of, and interest in, visual art created by women in the United States.," says Owens. "The PA Chapter looks to establish a network of collaboration among women artists rather than competition."
The Exhibition Committee, Mandi Moerland, June Blumberg, Marilyn Lowney Johnson and Elizabeth Myes Castonguay are meeting with museum curators and
galley directors to show what women artists can do. "We will soon be announcing our exhibition schedule for 2026 and 2027," says Owens. "Our Vice-President, Jen Haefeli has created our internet presence and women artists are welcome to contact us at www.TheNAWAPA.org for more information."
